Residents urged to evacuate as Cagayan River hits warning level

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan—Local authorities advised residents in low-lying areas to evacuate in safer locations after water level from the Cagayan River at Buntun Bridge rose to a warning level.

Water level monitored from the Buntun Bridge was measured at 10.2 meters by 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. It went to 10.5 meters by 9:00 p.m. and kept rising as of this posting.

Disaster risk managers cautioned that dangerous flash floods could happen, which could make things a lot worse for the storm-hit populace.

They issued notices of evacuation, urging families to prioritize their own safety. Evacuation centers are now available to house those in need of temporary shelter.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and advised residents to remain cautious and vigilant.

As a general rule, the alert level is set at 4 meters, the warning level at 8 meters, and the critical water level at 11 meters.
