The Philippine Air Force (PAF) collaborated with the Luzon Reserve and Marine Corps’ Battalion Landing Team-10 to send reinforcements in Batanes following the onslaught of Typhoon Julian.
A total of 79 reservists from the PAF’s 2nd Air Force Wing Reserve, under the 2nd Air Reserve Center, actively participated in various humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) missions.
Their efforts included hauling essential relief goods, conducting search and rescue operations, and delivering necessary aid to residents in Basco, Sabtang, and Itbayat in Batanes.
On the other hand, Marine Battalion Landing Team-10 played a crucial role by providing manpower assistance during the transportation of vital water supplies from a PAF SOKOL aircraft to the affected areas in Basco and Itbayat, both located in the Province of Batanes, after the devastation caused by Typhoon Julian.
The unit coordinated with local authorities and disaster response teams to streamline logistics for distributing water, ensuring it reached the hardest-hit communities promptly and efficiently.
Additionally, the PAF’s Tactical Operations Group (TOG) 2, under the Tactical Operations Wing Northern Luzon (TOWNOL), assisted in the relief operations.
Utilizing the PAF’s Sokol helicopter, TOG 2 transported a total of 10 personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) along with 60 kilograms of vital medicines to support recovery efforts on the island.
