Philconsa cites Romualdez leadership, commitment to protect our Constitution

Speaker Martin Romualdez was honored by the Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa) for upholding the sanctity of the Constitution and the rule of law.

The accolade was inscribed in a plaque of appreciation handed to Romualdez by President Marcos during the association’s 63rd anniversary celebration held at Malacañang Palace last September 26.

In his message as guest of honor during the event, President Marcos highlighted the vital role of the organization, noting that “in the past 63 years, the Philconsa has remained the steadfast, vigilant, and uncompromising guardians of our democracy and of our nation.”

Among others, the plaque cited Romualdez’s “unflagging interest to preserve the sanctity of the Constitution and the Rule of Law.”

Retired Supreme Court Chief Justice and Philconsa Chairperson Reynato Puno, Executive Vice President Jose Leviste, Jr. and Secretary General Michelle Lazaro signed the plaque of recognition.

As incumbent Philconsa President, Romualdez was also hailed “for his purposeful leadership and untiring support to the Philconsa, which enabled it to play its role as the foremost champion of the Constitution.”

The plaque likewise highlighted his deep commitment to ensuring that the Constitution continues to protect the lives, liberties, and properties of the Filipino people, adapting to the evolving challenges of the times.

Founded on September 26, 1961, Philconsa is a non-stock and non-profit civic organization of legal luminaries, business, and socio-civic leaders, with the common goal and commitment to defend and preserve the Constitution.

The organization also conducts activities to engender awareness and stimulate public interest in the basic law by promoting its importance and relevance.
