A total of 77,249 individuals are now affected in Upper Luzon by the effects of Typhoon Julian, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Tuesday.
In its latest situation report, these numbers represent 22,645 families residing in 252 barangays across Regions 1, 2, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Region 1 was the most affected, with 44,521 individuals, which is equivalent to 13,105 families.
Meanwhile, heavy rains caused by Typhoon Julian have submerged areas in floodwaters and triggered landslides in some parts of Luzon.
In Batanes, strong winds and heavy rains battered Sabtang as Julian passed closely on Monday.
The roofs of several houses were damaged, and trees were toppled.
In Uyugan, some roads were flooded, while a five-seater plane at Basco Airport was damaged due to the strong winds, despite being tied to two trucks.
Buwaya River in Ilocos Sur overflowed, prompting residents to be advised of possible flash floods amid the continuous rains.
Flooding was reported in Pagudpud, Piddig, Solsona, San Nicolas, Vintar, and Laoag City in Ilocos Norte, as well as in Bangar and Luna in La Union.
In Sto. Tomas, La Union, motorists faced difficulties traversing flooded roads.
Floodwaters also affected some houses in Agoo while residents in Barangay San Jose Sur encountered challenges fetching water due to the flooding caused by a nearby creek that overflowed.
In Baguio City, motorists were stranded due to the strong current of floodwater on roads in Barangay Irisan.
A landslide was also reported in the same barangay, forcing two families to evacuate.
Additionally, four houses were damaged in Barangay Dominican-Mirador due to the heavy rains.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, some fishermen in Barangay Bonuan Gueset in Dagupan City decided to sail after not being able to fish for several days, stating that the bad weather had already impacted their income.
