A survey conducted by a Pasig City-based lobbying and campaign consultancy indicate significant shifts in voter preference for the upcoming 2025 elections.
In its Pahayag 2024 Third Quarter survey released Monday, PUBLiCUS Asia noted that several political newcomers have broken into the Top 12 senatorial preferences.
The study shows that brothers Erwin and Ben Tulfo both made it to the “Magic 12,” with the former landing the top spot while the latter placed 12th.
The two are brothers of incumbent Senator Raffy Tulfo.
In a study of contrasts, the same survey indicates that if elections were held today, former President Rodrigo Duterte would place fourth while human rights lawyer Chel Diokno would place tenth.
“Returning senators or incumbents seeking reelection have generally experienced increased voter predisposition, with the exception of presidential sister Senator Imee Marcos, who has remained steady with no significant movement in 8th place,” the firm said in a statement.
Also in the Top 12 are incumbent Senator Bong Go in fifth place, Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino in seventh, and Senator Pia Cayetano in the 11th spot.
Sitting Senators Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Manuel “Lito” Lapid, and Ramon “Bong” Revilla are currently in 13th, 19th, and 22nd positions, respectively, it was also reported.
“Those seeking reelections may need to recalibrate their strategies,” the pollster pointed out.
Meanwhile, returning senators Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Vicente “Tito” Sotto have claimed 2nd and 3rd places, respectively, while Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is in 6th place, and Manny Pacquiao holds 9th, according to the survey.
The non-commissioned survey was conducted from September 15 to 19 using purposive sampling composed of 1,500 randomly drawn respondents.
