Cassandra Ong moves to Mandaluyong facility

Whirlwind Corporation and Lucky South 99 stakeholder Cassandra Li Ong is now detained at the Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) confirmed on Thursday.

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said Ong was transferred from her quarters in Batasan Complex to the correctional facility on Wednesday evening.

According to BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang, Jr., Ong will be staying in a separate room with a guard and a private restroom. He said she cannot be in a regular jail since she has not yet been convicted of any crime.

Despite her transfer, Ong remains under the jurisdiction of the House of Representatives, which issued the warrant for her arrest after being cited in contempt.

Ong is implicated in the widespread Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) mess. She is currently under investigation in both the House of Representatives and the Senate over her alleged involvement in the criminal activities of the POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.
