North Port Batang Pier cager John Amores surrendered to authorities early Thursday morning, less than 12 hours after getting involved in a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna.

Accompanied by his brother, Amores turned himself in at around 2 a.m.

He faces a charge of attempted murder and is set to undergo an inquest proceeding later this Thursday.

Reports indicate that Amores and another individual, identified as Lee Cacalda, were playing basketball in Barangay Salac when an altercation occurred.

Following the initial confrontation, the two resumed fighting in Barangay Maytalang, where Amores allegedly fired a gun at Cacalda; fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Authorities stated that Amores disposed of the firearm used during the incident, citing threats as the reason for his actions.

Amores is also remembered for a previous incident in 2022 when he punched a player from the College of Saint Benilde during a National Collegiate Athletic Association game while still with Jose Rizal University.

Allegations surfaced that a bet of P4,000 was on the line during that game.
