Cloudy with a chance of ‘Bebinca,’ says PAGASA

Cloudy skies with a chance of scattered rains attributed to the trough of severe tropical storm ‘Bebinca’—a cyclone that remains outside of the Philippine area of responsibility—will prevail over the eastern sections of Luzon and the Visayas, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the center of the storm was estimated at 1,975 kilometers east of Central Luzon and 1,930 kms east of Northern Luzon.

Based on its latest monitoring, ‘Bebinca’ was moving west northwestward at 25 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h, gustiness of up to 115 km/h, central pressure of 990 hPa.

Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of “Bebinca” with the possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

On the other hand, the southwest monsoon or “hanging habagat” will affect Mindanao and the rest of Southern Luzon and the Visayas.
