Dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo is expected to be deported to the Philippines within this week after her arrest by Indonesian immigration for overstaying, according to Bureau of Immigration (BI) commissioner Norman Tansingco.

Guo, who is facing a human trafficking case linking her to the illegal operation of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO), was apprehended in Tangerang City, Indonesia, early Wednesday morning, the BI said.

Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval said they are anticipating Guo’s return to Manila “within the week.”

Tansingco will be flying to Indonesia, together with Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr. and Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Rommel Marbil to fetch the former Bamban mayor.

Guo is currently in custody of the Indonesian Police at Jatanras Mabes Polri.

“The information has been confirmed by our immigration counterparts in Indonesia, and we are very happy with this development,” said Tansingco.

He believes that Guo’s return to the Philippines would shed light on many questions about her illegal departure, as well as allow her to face numerous cases filed against her.
