Marcos eyes better awareness, action for maritime resources

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has called on Filipinos to focus on the protection and sustainable development of the country’s maritime and archipelagic resources during Maritime and Archipelagic Awareness Month (MANA Mo).

In a video message, the President emphasized the need for increased public awareness and engagement to address maritime issues and safeguard the nation’s maritime interests from various threats.

“Our country is fortunate and blessed with vast maritime and archipelagic resources that can be utilized for the benefit of our people,” Mr. Marcos said.

“As stewards of this incredible gift, it is incumbent upon us to preserve and develop these resources to their fullest potential,” he added.

The President also highlighted the significance of participating in coastal clean-up and conservation efforts, aligning with Fish Conservation Week, International Coastal Clean-up Day, and National Maritime Day.

He encouraged the public, particularly the youth, to join nationwide clean-up and conservation activities, asserting that collective action is crucial for achieving a sustainable and greener future.

“Everything starts from each of us and with all of us working together, we will soon harvest the fruits of our hard work and realize a sustainable and greener future for everyone to enjoy,” Marcos concluded.
