President Ferdinand Marcos expressed his support and admiration for the seven Filipino athletes, representing the Philippines at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
Taekwondo’s Allain Ganapin, swimmers Angel Mae Otom and Ernie Gawilan, track and field competitors Jerrold Mangliwan and Cendy Asusano, and archer Agustina Bantiloc will be competing at the 17th Paralympic Games in Paris, France.
“As you represent the Philippines in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, know that you are all already champions in our eyes,” Mr. Marcos said in a statement.
“Your commitment to your training as elite athletes, despite (the) challenges you face, exemplifies the spirit of the Filipino people,” he added.
Mr. Marcos reminded the team that the entire country stands behind them as they compete in Paris.
“No accolade, praise, or reward can truly return the pride you bring to our country. As you take on the world stage at Paralympics, remember that the whole nation is with you, supporting you every step of the way,” the President said.
As they journey to Paris, the athletes bear the hopes of a nation, with the President urging them to display the heart of Filipino warriors on the global stage.
“Compete with the heart of Filipino warriors, and show the world the strength of our people. We are all immensely proud of you. Best of luck, and Mabuhay ang Team Pilipinas,” he concluded.
