Hontiveros calls on DFA to cancel Guo’s passport

A day after she disclosed that Alice Guo or Guo Hua Ping left the country on July 18, 2024, Senator Risa Hontiveros on Tuesday called on the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to cancel the Philippine passport of the dismissed mayor.

Hontiveros said Guo’s passport should be made null and void immediately.

“Cancelling her passport will limit her travels. It would be much easier to locate her if she’s not moving around,” said Hontiveros.

The senator said the DFA should have cancelled Guo’s passport the moment it was confirmed that she was not a Filipino.

Furthermore, since documents proved that Guo is Chinese and not a Filipino citizen, she does not have the right to use a Philippine passport.

Hontiveros also slammed Guo for using a Philippine passport to escape and evade charges.

In a Manifestation delivered on the Senate floor on Monday night, Hontiveros said she received information from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) that Guo left the Philippines and arrived in Malaysia on the same day.

Guo then proceeded to Singapore on July 24 where she had a sort of reunion with her family.

The Bureau of Immigration has since confirmed this information, adding that intelligence reports from the agency’s counterparts abroad verified that Guo also transferred to Indonesia after being in Singapore.

Hontiveros noted that the failure to apprehend Guo only shows lack of better interagency coordination among relevant government organizations.

She believes that if there was only proper coordination between law enforcement authorities, this could not have happened.

“And we will not allow (anyone) to go scot-free in case there were officials involved in the escape of Guo,” said Hontiveros.
