Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has opened the city’s Green Awards to recognize QCitizens with outstanding climate action and disaster risk reduction and management programs.
“From 13 awardees, we are set to award a total of 48 groups and organizations this year. With more awardees, we hope to encourage more residents and stakeholders to take part in protecting our environment. Let’s work together toward a sustainable, safe and green tomorrow for all,” she said.
The QC Green Awards incentivizes barangays, Sangguniang Kabataan, youth-based organizations and businesses that implement best practices to address the impacts of the climate crisis and to advance efforts on disaster resiliency.
This year, the city government will also open the Green Awards to public and private schools and health institutions.
The QC Green Awards has two main categories — the Green Category and Resilient Category.
Barangays, businesses, hospitals and schools can win up to P300,000, while Sangguniang Kabataan and youth-based organizations can receive P100,000.
