Santiago City—Another round of scholars for the academic year 2023–2024 graduated recently from SN Aboitiz Power’s (SNAP) Bridging Gaps in Higher Education via Tertiary Scholarships (BRIGHTS) program.
Two graduates obtained honorable mentions and five graduates with Latin honors among the eleven graduates. Throughout July and August, SNAP’s host towns in Ifugao, Isabela, and Benguet hosted commencement celebrations at their respective schools.
SNAP president and CEO Joseph Yu said, “We are immensely proud of our scholars and their achievements. We believe they are tomorrow’s innovators and change-makers; through them, we hope to realize our vision of a better and sustainable Philippines in the future.”
Jezryll Hulog, who earned a Bachelor of Secondary Education with honors from Benguet State University, is one of the esteemed scholars. She said that participating in the BRIGHTS program “has instilled (in her) a profound sense of responsibility and gratitude” in a statement to SNAP. “Your dedication to developing young minds has given me the will to make a positive impact on society in addition to academic knowledge.”
This August, Jennifer Asistido, a scholar of SNAP-Magat, will graduate with a degree in management accounting. She said, “I am incredibly grateful to have been selected as a scholar.”
“The yeses during the deliberation significantly altered the course of my life. Many thanks to SNAP and all program participants. People’s lives are being significantly improved by you. As SNAP has aided me, I aspire to one day be in a position to assist others in realizing their aspirations.
Congratulatory luncheons were arranged for the scholars and their families in Magat and Benguet throughout July to commemorate this significant occasion.
As a result, SNAP conducted another round of screening for new researchers at this time. Twelve (12) additional scholars have been admitted into the program for the next academic year as of this writing. All told, 115 scholars have been funded since the program’s launch in 2018.
A member of the selection panel for this year’s scholarship program, Jasmin Montes began working with SNAP-Benguet in 2023 as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Assistant. “With SNAP, I began constructing my future, and I’m still doing it now. Now that I’m working with others, I’m also contributing to their future development and, consequently, the communities they serve.
