Guimbal, Iloilo — A fisherman was injured after being attacked by a shark in the waters off Guimbal on Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. while the fisherman known as Nonoy was fishing from his pump boat.
According to Nonoy, he was sitting in his boat when he noticed something in the water that he initially thought was a starfish. However, as it approached, he realized it was a shark.
Nonoy quickly stood up, but the shark suddenly attacked, causing him to fall into the water. He clung to his boat while the shark bit him, tearing his shorts.
The shark then swam away. Nonoy immediately swam back to shore and went to the health center for treatment.
According to Guimbal Police, this is Nonoy’s second shark attack experience. The first occurred in the waters off Concepcion when he was 24 years old.
