President Marcos has ordered a review to streamline the e-visa process for Indian nationals to boost tourism by making visa transactions more efficient.

During a meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) Tourism Sector Group at Malacañan Palace, President Marcos emphasized the need for a faster e-visa system.

“We don’t have any such issues [with India]. So, I’m sure we can use their system,” President Marcos said

Lucio Tan, president and CEO of LT Group, recommended engaging a third-party service provider to manage the e-visa system, ensuring efficiency and quick resolution of issues.

“In view of that, we recommend engaging in a third-party service provider that will establish, run and maintain the e-Visa system under the guidance of the relevant government agencies,” Tan told President Marcos during the meeting.

“This will ensure that the program is consistently monitored and that any challenges in the process and the system will be immediately [addressed].  This will likewise streamline the application process and thus generate more applications due to the expedited process,” he added.

PSAC says Indian tourists contribute greatly to Philippine tourism, spending eight nights and $100 per day on average. Shopping, sightseeing, beaches, and business investments are common activities.
