President Marcos on Friday committed to improving the lives of farmers and fisherfolk in Bohol, promising continued support and development programs.
At the ceremonial distribution of Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families (PAFF), President Marcos announced P100 million in cash aid for Bohol and Cebu, with each province receiving P50 million and each beneficiary receiving P10,000.
The Office of the Speaker also provided five kilos of rice to attendees.
President Marcos highlighted the Department of Agriculture’s loan program, which includes tractors, fertilizers, seeds, and farm tools.
The Department of Trade and Industry will provide P8,000 livelihood kits to nine former rebels, and the Department of Labor and Employment will extend over P2.3 million to 100 beneficiaries of the Integrated Livelihood Program as well as P1.8 million to nearly 400 TUPAD beneficiaries.
The President announced the near completion of the Mabini-Cayacay Small Reservoir Irrigation projects, which will irrigate over 530 hectares of farmland.
He acknowledged the impact of El Niño on over 13,000 families and 14,000 farmers and fisherfolk in Bohol and expressed hope that government aid would help them recover.
President Marcos assured Filipinos of government readiness in times of disaster and called for strong collaboration between local and national governments to ensure aid reaches all beneficiaries.
