Contrary to claims that former President Rodrigo Duterte has passed away, he was seen with and described by Senator Christopher Lawrence Go as “alive and kicking” in a social media post on Thursday.
“Like we always say, there is always a time for everything. This is the time to further prioritize the welfare of our countrymen,” Go said in a mix of English and Filipino.
“Just like Duterte advised me then and now: ‘Do what is right, fulfill your duty to the country, and prioritize the interest of Filipinos,'” he added.
Go has since reaffirmed his support for the Dutertes along with Davaoeños.
“My family is from Batangas. I grew up in Metro Manila. I am Bisaya as well. And many municipalities, cities, and provinces consider me their adopted son. That is why my loyalty is and will always be with the Filipino people,” Go said.
Aside from a Facebook live video with Duterte, Go also posted photos together with the former president on Thursday.
Several deepfake videos circulated on various social media platforms, particularly on TikTok, this week that Duterte allegedly died.
The false information used manipulated soundbites from reputable broadcast journalists and media networks.
