Members of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) stationed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City seized on Friday illegal drugs valued at P13.5-million.
The BOC, together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), intercepted a parcel containing the prohibited substance reportedly worth P13,546,100 at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC).
The parcel, which was declared as canned food and fruits, originated from Denmark. It was consigned to an individual in Taguig City whose name was not revealed.
Upon field testing by PDEA, 5,033 pieces of Ecstasy tablets and 998 grams of Ketamine were discovered inside the parcel.
Criminal charges will be filed against the claimant for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act No. 9165) and Section 1401 (Unlawful Importation) of Republic Act No. 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio emphasized they remain resolute in upholding the law and safeguarding the welfare of the Filipino people.”
