West zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. (Maynilad) said Thursday it recently completed the laying of 11.6 kilometers of new sewer lines in Valenzuela City.

“We are committed to both enhancing water supply and safeguarding public health and the environment. These new sewer lines demonstrate our continued investment in wastewater treatment infrastructure, which is crucial for the well-being of our customers,” said Maynilad president and chief executive Ramoncito Fernandez.

The newly laid pipes along Mc Arthur Highway will collect wastewater from roughly 190,000 residents in Barangays Karuhatan, Malinta, Marulas and parts of Maysan.

The wastewater will be conveyed to the recently-inaugurated Valenzuela Water Reclamation Facility for proper treatment before discharged.

Maynilad said it employed a “trenchless” methodology, a system of inserting pipes through an access point rather than digging traditional trenches to minimize disruption to traffic on McArthur Highway.

The initial 11.6 kilometers comprise the first phase of a planned 28-kilometer sewerage system project in Valenzuela.

Maynilad is the Philippines’ largest private water concessionaire by customer base. It serves the west zone of the Greater Manila Area.
