Socialite and actress Heart Evangelista formally took her oath as president of the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc., (SSFI) on Wednesday, saying she is ready to embark on her new role for the organization.
Evangelista, or Love Marie Ongpauco-Escudero in real life, told reporters she is “willing to really work” despite feeling some nervous tension since politics is not her world. She intends to take the job seriously.
“You won’t be expecting me to be going to certain things just to take pictures. I really want to do something and continuously make a change,” she said.
The 39-year-old Evangelista, who married Senate President Francis Escudero in 2015, bared plans to pursue the ongoing projects of SSFI, especially those concerning women and children.
“We will proceed with them and maybe, for me, I’ll probably do a little bit of a modern approach. I’ll try to add a few more sustainability programs,” she stated.
Escudero administered the oath of office for the SSFI officers led by his wife.
The organization is involved in socio-civic activities such as building homes for the elderly, conducting medical and dental missions, gift-giving and feeding programs for street children and the needy in marginalized communities and carrying-out relief operations during disasters, among others.
The new set of SSFI officers include Kathryna Yu-Pimentel (Vice President and Chairperson, Committee on Social Events); Maricel Tulfo (Secretary and Chairperson, Committee on Public Assistance); Teodoro Misael Llamanzares (Assistant Secretary and Chairperson, Committee on Finance and Logistics); Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla (Treasurer); Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano (Chairperson, Committee on Arts); Mark Lapid (Chairperson, Committee on Ways and Means); Issa Baraquel (Chairperson, Committee on Youth & Women); Emmeline Villar (Legal Counsel and Chairperson, Committee on Environment); Marielle Padilla and Nancy dela Rosa (Public Relations Officers).
