Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay on Friday visited Pampanga, accompanied by former president and congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her son, Mikey Arroyo.

This visit followed Binay’s recent oath-taking as a new party member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), which is considering her as one of its senatorial candidates in the upcoming midterm elections.

During her visit, the mayor met with local government officials to discuss best governance practices and was warmly welcomed by officials and employees of Sta. Rita, Porac, Floridablanca, Lubao, and Guagua.

The city government of Makati has been actively sharing best practices in digital initiatives for better social services and enhanced resilience with other localities.

Binay’s membership oath at the NPC Clubhouse in Quezon City last Tuesday was administered by her husband, Makati Rep. Luis Campos, who is planning to run for mayor in Makati.

The NPC previously signed a coalition agreement with the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who was present at the signing ceremonies.

Binay was listed as one of the most preferred senatorial bets in next year’s polls based on the Pulse Asia Research Inc. survey conducted two months ago.

Under her leadership, Makati has received the first-ever “unqualified audit opinion” from the Commission on Audit in 2017, confirming that the city’s financial statements accurately represent its accounts.

Additionally, in 2017, the local government posted a significant increase in revenue collections and met the performance target set by the Bureau of Local Government Finance under the Department of Finance.

Binay’s administration achieved the highest revenue collection in years without increasing taxes. In her first six months in office, from July to December 2016, the city government surpassed the revenue collection for the same period in 2015 by over P600 million.
