Calamba City—Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Calabarzon regional director Jovel G. Mendoza presented an overview of the department’s accomplishments, key projects, and future initiatives aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas governance and leadership agenda, alongside the “Build. Better. More.” program.
During the inaugural nationwide synchronized weekly forum, “Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas,” organized by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) in collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the DDPWH Calabarzon took center stage as the featured national government agency on Tuesday.
Aside from the P200-billion construction of 5.22-kilometer inter-jurisdictional roads and bridges, Mendoza seized the opportunity to shed light on the ongoing road maintenance initiatives, a critical focus area as the region braces for the onset of the rainy season.
Emphasizing the significance of these efforts, Director Mendoza detailed the intensified road maintenance operations undertaken by DPWH personnel, who are working diligently, even on weekends, to ensure the safety and functionality of the region’s roadways and bridges. These activities encompass a range of tasks, including the inspection and repair of road damages, bridge cleaning, vegetation management along roadways, and the clearance of silt from drainage systems on national highways. Such proactive measures are essential for safeguarding the integrity of the region’s infrastructure, particularly in the aftermath of natural calamities such as Typhoon Aghon.
Mendoza reiterated that these preemptive measures are specifically designed to mitigate the potential impacts of adverse weather conditions, guaranteeing that transportation routes remain secure and accessible for motorists and the general public. By upholding a steadfast commitment to maintaining top-notch infrastructure, DPWH aims to provide a dependable and safe transportation network for all users.
Furthermore, Mendoza underscored the pivotal role of these initiatives in bolstering the economic growth and development of the region. By enhancing infrastructure quality, these projects facilitate improved connectivity to markets, services, and opportunities, thereby fostering socio-economic advancement in Calabarzon. The anticipated outcomes include job creation, economic stimulation at the local level, and an overall enhancement of residents’ quality of life.
DPWH Region IV-A remains steadfast in its dedication to advancing infrastructure development under the visionary leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., with a keen eye towards fostering sustainable progress and prosperity for the region and its inhabitants.
