Florals for “Garden of Time”? Groundbreaking.

Fashion’s biggest night has seen an assortment of garden-variety looks inspired by both flora and fauna, in accordance with the Met Gala 2024 theme: ‘The Garden of Time.’

The dress code, in reality, takes after the 1962 short story of the same name, authored by English writer J.G. Ballard. It is a tale that deals with themes such as fleeting beauty, human history, as well as the cyclical nature of creation and destruction.

Interpreting the assignment can be literal through the likes of floral imagery, or through a more literary take using subtle visual cues.

Here are some of the more unique takes among this year’s celebrity attendees at the invite-only event. The results range from intricately beautiful to borderline over-the-top.
