President Marcos ordered an intensified collaboration between the national government and Local Government Units (LGUs) to ensure the prompt delivery of aid to residents affected by the drought.

During a recent situation briefing in Occidental Mindoro, President Marcos underscored the importance of LGUs communicating the specific needs of their constituents to the national government, leveraging their firsthand knowledge of local conditions.

In turn, the national government is committed to providing comprehensive assistance to address these needs swiftly.

The President emphasized the administration’s commitment to reaching not only urban areas, but also remote locales affected by the El Niño crisis, ensuring that aid reaches all those in need.

“Our coordination is really good. That’s the most important thing because all the supplies, food packs, and aid are already there,” President Marcos said.

“But we need to reach out to those who really need it, not just those near the population centers, but everyone, especially those in far-flung areas we really need to help,” he added.

President Marcos reiterated the necessity for robust collaboration between LGUs and the national government to prevent delays and ensure that assistance reaches beneficiaries promptly.

“The coordination between the national government and local government must be strong to avoid prolonged waiting times and stockpiling of aid… That’s the coordination we aim for between the local and national governments,” he underscored.

President Marcos personally visited Occidental Mindoro to provide financial aid and other essential services to farmers and fishermen affected by the El Niño phenomenon.

During his visit, he received updates from local officials regarding the situation of the affected residents and the province.
