President Marcos and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani are set to exchange views on various areas of cooperation as the latter would be in the country for a two-day state visit, Malacañang said.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, Sheikh Tamim is in the country from April 21 to 22 upon the invitation of the President.

“The two leaders are expected to exchange views on regional issues and to discuss PH-Qatar bilateral relations which now covers cooperation in the areas of labor, climate change, trade and investments, energy security, education, youth, and sports, among others,” Malacañang said in a statement.

The Qatari Emir last visited the Philippines in 2012.

Meanwhile, Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Lillibeth Pono mentioned that the Emir’s visit to the country indicated the strengthening of bilateral relations between Doha and Manila.
