A party-list lawmaker said President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. should continue to go on foreign trips to strengthen diplomatic relations and ensure that investment commitments are realized.

“As our country’s chief salesman, President Marcos is at the forefront of making the Philippines the investment destination of choice,” Rep. Ray T. Reyes of AnaKalusugan party-list group, a member of the House majority bloc, said.

“He is the face of the country and should demonstrate that we are ready to engage and coordinate with other countries,” he added.

Reyes said the President’s international engagements are very much needed especially in promoting rules-based international order and boosting trade and labor relations.

“The President’s foreign policy has always been based on our national interest. That said, we would be remiss not to promote strong and multifaceted relationships with the end goal of mutually beneficial outcomes,” Reyes said.

He noted how President Marcos is always warmly accepted during his trips abroad and noted how these engagements have a positive impact on enhancing international relations.

“In all the trips that our beloved President embarks on, there is always a warm reception not only from the Filipino community there but also from their dignitaries and counterpart government officials,” Reyes said.

Reyes also stressed the need for lawmakers to support the President by ensuring that the country’s legislation aligns effectively with his representation of the Philippines.

“Under the leadership of Speaker Martin Romualdez, we in the House of Representatives continue to support our president to ensure that our product, which is the Philippines, is presented in the best possible light,” he added.
