THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) is set to deport an alleged South Korean syndicate leader and an American fugitive facing prosecution for failure to support his child.

Authorities said the Korean, identified as Lee Yeonghak, mustered P90 billion Won (roughly P3.7 billion) in illegal online gaming within just two years.

The American, Stan Ray Hudgins, was wanted by the law in South California for child non-support.

The duo was arrested in separate operations conducted in Manila and Pampanga by operatives from the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

According to BI-FSU acting chief Rendel Ryan Sy, Lee was wanted in Seoul, South Korea for involvement in illegal online gaming operations.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Daegu district prosecutor’s office over charges of setting up gambling sites on the Internet in violation of his country’s laws against illegal gambling.

He allegedly connived with another syndicate in establishing an online gaming site in 2022 from which they raked profits amounting to 90 billion Won, or roughly US$67 million.
