The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said it has recovered its account in the social media platform X, which was earlier hacked and compromised.
In a statement, the PCG said its Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (CGPAS) immediately coordinated with the X support team to report the incident.
In an update, the PCG said as of 11:30am, it has retrieved access to its account with the help of the X support team.
“The PCG urges the general public to be cautious in receiving succeeding tweets from the said compromised account. The CGPAS will provide further updates regarding the incident,” the PCG said.
“We have also strengthened our security measures to protect our account against security breaches,” the PCG said.
While the account was compromised, there seems to have been no malicious utilization of the PCG page.
“While we have advised our followers to be mindful of such scenarios, we believe that we had a security breach,” the PCG said.
The PCG announced the incident at around 11 a.m. and recovered the account at around 11:30 a.m.
