UP offers free distance learning courses

Courses on business analytics concepts and frameworks, strategic planning in open distance learning, principles of graphic design, and introduction to technology for teaching and learning are listed among the 24 free online courses at the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) this 2024.

Interested students can access these learning opportunities through the UPOU Massive Open Distance eLearning platform (MODeL).

Those who complete the courses shall receive an e-certificate from the university, which they can put in their resumes as a 16-hour training program.

A program on the Basics of Resilience with an introductory course on contact center services has been ongoing since January.

Those with existing MODeL accounts may self-enroll anytime. New enrollees are encouraged to register online through this link:https://url.upou.edu.ph/upoumodel-signup. All featured courses can be finished at one’s own pace.

Meanwhile, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines launched its Education on Wheels (EOW) project in Tatalon, Quezon City to help financially-challenged students.

The EOW program, which is now in its third year after it was first launched in Tondo, Manila, features a bus converted into a classroom and offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Office Administration program.

Classes are held once a week inside the bus, while the rest are conducted online.

“With this program, students no longer need to pay for transportation to go to PUP. Instead, we bring the classroom to their communities,” said Jonathan Florida, program chairperson of Bachelor of Science in Office Administration at PUP Open University System.
