“Old music, rotten style.”

This is how Sen. Christopher Go described the “rehashed” allegations of retired Davao City police officer Arturo Lascañas, who accused him of gathering personal data of individuals reportedly eliminated by the infamous Davao Death Squad (DDS).

Go, a longtime special assistant to former President Rodrigo Duterte, said he never received such order in the years they worked together.

“Even since when he (Duterte) was still the mayor of Davao City, PRRD never gave that kind of order,” he said. “There was never a time he ordered me to do something illegal,” added Go.

Lascañas claimed it was Go who collected information from an informant at the Davao City Land Transportation Office (LTO), which included the address and type of vehicle driven by their targets.

“This has been repeatedly heard on the news, but they have no evidence (because) it’s not true,” the senator responded. If there was truth to what Lascañas has been saying, Go said he should have filed formal charges.

Go said he neither made nor seen a list of targets for the DDS to kill. “I don’t follow illegal orders from anyone, whoever they may be,” he stressed.

Lascañas resurfaced in the mainstream media after reportedly submitting a 186-page affidavit to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is looking into crimes against humanity that happened under the Duterte administration.
