Two Filipinos arrested in Tokyo in connection with the deaths of a Japanese couple are in good condition, the Department of Affairs said.

“Based on our latest information, our two fellowmen are in good condition,” said DFA Deputy Assistant Secretary Bryan Lao in a television interview.

The two were arrested after they were accused of not reporting to authorities the bodies of the couple.

CCTV footage taken in the vicinity of the deceased couple’s house on Jan. 16  showed the two Filipinos in the premises where the bodies were recovered.

Lao said personnel from the Philippine Embassy in Japan were able to visit Hazel Ann Baguisa Morales, one of the two arrested Filipinos, at the police station on Tuesday.

The Filipina, a former partner of the deceased couple’s son, has already secured a court-appointed lawyer.

Kyodo News identified the victims as Norihiro Takahashi, 55, and his wife Kimie, 52, residents of Tokyo’s Adachi Ward.

Officers discovered the bodies under a bathroom floor Thursday last week.

The Japanese media said both bodies were found with multiple stab wounds, with the man’s injuries indicating signs of a struggle.
