The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has cited the top five importers in Ninoy Aquino International Airport and recognized their contribution to the robust revenue collection performance of the port in 2023.

Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. topped the list of importers in the Port of NAIA roster with more than P2.7 billion in paid duties and taxes.

Also included in the top five were Globe Telecom Inc., Louis Vuitton (Phils) Inc., Smart Communications Inc., and International Specialty Concepts.

NAIA district collector Yasmin Mapa led the recognition rite, stating that these importers helped the agency surpass its annual target. She expressed gratitude for their continued support.

“To our top importers in 2023, you carried us through a challenging year that enabled us to surpass our annual target. This is a shared success, because without all of you today, this would not have been possible. So thank you very much continued support of the agency’s aspirations,” she said.

Mapa also thanked all BoC stakeholders, saying they were key to the success of the Port of NAIA. She assured them that her port will continue to introduce reforms and initiatives that will promote ease of doing business and trade facilitation.

She likewise acknowledged the hard work and dedication of her deputy collectors and all personnel of Customs-NAIA offices, and highlighted their essential role in driving growth and fostering esteemed partnerships.

“As the nation gears towards economic growth, BOC-NAIA remains steadfast in being a gateway to international travelers and air cargo importers,” she said.

The Port of NAIA held its first Strategic Planning Session this year, aiming to achieve the BOC’s vision of a modernized and credible Customs administration by outlining measurable goals and coordinating strategies for the upcoming year.

The session also included a synthesis and discussion of the 2024 annual collection target and allocation.
