Socmed page of PNP drug group hacked

The official Facebook page of the Philippine National Police–Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) was reportedly defaced by suspected hackers over the weekend.

The PNP has yet to issue a statement regarding the alleged hacking incident.

Post from the suspected hackers began as a changed profile picture on Sunday, which was promptly followed by multiple shared photos from what appears to be random accounts and pages.

The PNP-DEG page on Facebook has 14,000 followers.

The agency uses the account to disseminate announcements, media releases, and bulletins that link to its main website.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the alleged hackers have posted more than 200 times, reports said.

Each shared post was captioned with alleged violation of community standards for “posting content that deceives other users,” “using false identity or photo,” and “making fun of other people” and a link for “review.”

The name of the page has been changed to “24 hours left, page at risk for being suspended, See Why.”
