IF plans do not miscarry, the “traslacion” or grand procession for the iconic image of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila will resume next month.

In an advisory, the Quiapo Church said a walk-through or rehearsal of the route of the procession would be held on Saturday.

“We are inviting you on December 16, at 5 am, at the Quirino Grandstand for the walk through of the route of the procession of the traslacion, which is part of our preparations for the celebration of Nazareno 2024,” the advisory read.

The activity will include officials of the Catholic Church, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

The procession is held annually to highlight in the Feast of the Black Nazarene on Jan. 9, 2024, with a huge throng of devotees joining the procession starting at the Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal in Luneta, ending at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene or Quiapo Church in Quezon Blvd.

The “traslacion” was suspended in 2021 due to the coronavirus disease pandemic.

Last January, the Quiapo Church introduced the “Walk of Faith” procession in place of the traditional “traslacion.”

The last traslacion was held in January 2020, two months before the Duterte administration declared a nationwide lockdown at the height of the pandemic.
