No online sale of abandoned luggage, MIAA warns public

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has warned the public against engaging with fake online accounts, such as those claiming lost luggage at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport is on sale.

“The public is warned not to transact with fake online accounts like a recent post on Facebook claiming that lost pieces of luggage at NAIA are on sale,” said MIAA Officer-in-Charge Bryan Co. Co said MIAA and airline operators have established protocols for safekeeping and disposing of lost or left-over items, but selling these items online is not one of them.

The airport management expressed dismay over the audacity of fraudsters who pick on unsuspecting individuals wishing to grab discounts or special price offers of goods sold online.

“We appeal to everyone to be extremely careful and vigilant when browsing through the internet.

Always exercise caution when engaging with online sellers. Do not be easy targets of scammers,” said Co.

The MIAA uses its official Facebook Page, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok accounts for official announcements and information dissemination.
