A total of 1,168 couples simultaneously tied the knot in a mass civil wedding ceremony held Tuesday in Caloocan City officiated by Mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan and attended by other high ranking officials of the city.
In his remarks, Malapitan exhorted the newlyweds to show affection to each other and be understanding, saying it helps guarantee a smooth relationship and a peaceful life.
He also reminded the couples to always seek guidance from God in making decisions for their families.
“Sa ating mga bagong kasal, sa panibagong yugto ng inyong buhay, sana’y mas ipakita at iparamdam ninyo ang inyong pagmamahalan. Intindihin ninyo ang isa’t isa dahil kasabay ng pag-intindi ay ang magaan na pagsasama at payapang buhay. huwag nyong hayaan na ang kasal ay maging sakal. Support each other’s dream and let your partner grow as an individual,” the Mayor said.
“Sa lahat ng gagawin nyo bilang mag-asawa, palagi ninyong hihilingin ang gabay ng Panginoon nang sa gayon ay palaging tama ang inyong mga desisyon para sa inyong pamilya.” he added.
Civil Registry chief Lucena Flores said the city government was always ready to assist its constituents because it aims to protect and strengthen families, one of the most fundamental unit of our society.
She also congratulated the couples and announced that all of them will take home gifts from the city government.
“Palagi pong handa ang ating Pamahalaang Lungsod na tulungan ang ating mga kababayan na nagnanais magpakasal dahil layunin po natin na maprotektahan at mas patatagin ang mga pamilya na isa sa pinakamahalagang bahagi ng ating lipunan. Congratulation po sa inyong lahat! Ang bawat mag-asawa po ay makakatanggap ng electric kettle, bottles of brandy at movie tickets, magbonding po kayo pag-uwi.” Ms. Flores stated.
Malapitan assured the newlyweds that as they build their own families, the city government will help them provide a good life and a bright future for their children.
“Sa pagbuo ng inyong pamilya, kami po sa Pamahalaang Lungsod ang magiging kaagapay nyo sa pagbibigay ng maayos na buhay at maliwanag na bukas sa inyong mga anak. Muli Best Wishes, Congratulations at Happy Valentine’s Day po sa inyong lahat!” the mayor said. Also present during the mass wedding were Vice Mayor Karina Teh-Limsico, Caloocan congressmen Oscar Malapitan and Dean Asistio, and councilors Win Abel, Lanz Almeda, and Bullet Prado.
