The Region 2 director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) urged students from different public schools in Tuguegarao City to be innovative and bold, underscoring the crucial role they will play in building a resilient, inclusive and sustainable Philippines.
Dir. Virginia G. Bilgera made the remarks during the two-day S&T Fair, SciMathlympics, of the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Tuguegarao from June 8 to 9, 2022.
To realize this, she said, more scientists, researchers, engineers, academicians, and mathematicians are needed to strengthen the science and technology workforce.
“The scarcity of a technology-based workforce is the sole reason why we are intensifying our S&T Scholarships program in the countryside. We need you,” Bilgera said.
Bilgera cited the department’s efforts in the field of research and development and scientific services such as the Balik Scientist program, Niche R&D Centers of different State Universities and Colleges in the region, and oneSTore.PH, among others.
