Presidential frontrunner Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. topped 7-Eleven’s SpeakCUP presidential survey’s latest tally.
7-Eleven, in a disclaimer, said the survey was “all done in the spirit of fun,” and allowed customers to “vote” for their preferred presidential candidate by buying a 22-oz or 12-oz soda drink that has the image and name of their favored candidate.
The latest running tally posted on March 20, on the company’s website, showed UniTeam presidential bet Marcos garnering 44 percent of the votes, followed by Vice President Leni Robredo in second at 27 percent.
Behind them are undecided voters in the third spot with 15 percent, followed by Isko Moreno with 7 percent, while Sen. Pacquiao and Sen. Lacson are in fifth place with 4 percent apiece.
The SpeakCUP survey results also showed Marcos miles ahead of the other presidential contenders in major island groups such as Metro Manila, where he got 40 percent of the votes, 49 percent in Northern Luzon, 41 percent in South Luzon, 42 percent in the Visayas, and 53 percent in Mindanao.
Patrons have five cup designs to choose from: Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Sen. Ping Lacson, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Vice President Leni Robredo, and a cup designated for “undecided” voters.
This year’s presidential survey would be the third time the company has done it, starting in 2010 and the last, 2016 national elections. 7-Eleven added that the “unofficial” pre-election survey would run from March 09 to April 27, 2022.
Marcos Jr. meanwhile could not hold back his tears after a female fish vendor tried to give her day’s earnings to help his candidacy during a campaign caravan in Navotas City on Sunday.
The touching scene, captured during the event’s live stream, was posted on Marcos’ official Facebook page and has become viral with 3.8 million views as of press time. Meanwhile, on Marcos’ YouTube channel, the video has garnered more than three hundred thousand views in less than 24 hours.
