Vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio secured the support of Sarangani Rep. Ruel Pacquiao Monday afternoon in Davao City.

Ruel is the youngest brother of presidential aspirant Sen. Manny Pacquiao, who is running in tandem with former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.

The Lakas Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) confirmed this as the party said in a statement the meeting was also attended by Sarangani Gov. Steve Solon and mayors from various towns of the province.

“Rep. Pacquiao, Gov. Solon, and the mayors of Sarangani expressed support to the vice presidential candidacy of Inday Sara,” the Lakas CMD said.

“The expression of support is deeply appreciated, and it affirmed the essence of the unity that the UniTeam has been trying to espouse among political parties—as a way to achieve the common goals that the UniTeam has for our country and the Filipinos,” it added.

The UniTeam agreed that Duterte-Carpio should meet the leaders of the province of Sarangani.

Meanwhile, presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. remains at the top of the presidential race if the elections were held today, a pre-election survey using mobile phone technology conducted by research firm Tangere from January 18 to 19 with 2,400 respondents.

In a statement, the Marcos camp said the former senator obtained 57.67 percent preference votes in the nationwide poll.

The Tangere survey also showed Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso (16.75 percent) in second place followed by Vice President Leni Robredo in third with 15.08 percent.

It is unclear whether Domagoso and Robredo are statistically tied as no margin of error was provided in the statement from the Marcos camp.

Senator Panfilo Lacson had 4.71 percent followed by Senator Manny Pacquiao with 4.29 percent.
