PNP forms counter-intelligence unit against rogue cops

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa has signed the order that creates the PNP Counter Intelligence Task Force or CITF.

“Inaprubahan ko na yon so ready na for launching next week (I have approved that so it will be ready for launching next week),” he told reporters in Camp Crame.

The task force will handle complaints against police scalawags.

Its operatives will come from the PNP Special Action force (SAF), counter intelligence personnel from the PNP Intelligence Group and the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

On Friday morning, Dela Rosa visited the office that will be used by the CITF in the PNP Headquarters.

He noticed that several confiscated vehicles were parked in front of the disbanded PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG).

He said he will ask the court for the transfer of the vehicles to the Dangerous Drugs Board.
