5 PSG members injured in an ambush in Marawi City

Five members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) were injured in an ambush in Marawi City at past 10 am Tuesday.

They were in Barangay Matampay travelling to the 103rd Infantry Brigade Headquarters in Marawi City when armed men from a higher ground hurled a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at them.

The IED exploded and as a result,  two of the PSG members are in critical condition.

One sustained injury in the head while another was severely wounded in the neck.

The victims are being airlifted to the Headquarters of the 4th Infantry Division in Cagayan De Oro.

The PSG members are part of a 50-member PSG team and staff from Radio/TV Malacañang (RTVM) that serve as an advance party for President Rodrigo Duterte’s planned visit to Lanao del Sur on Wednesday.

The President wants to check the military operations against the Maute terrorist group in Butig town.
