Duterte to release Vietnamese poachers

President Rodrigo Duterte will personally send back to their homeland 17 Vietnamese poachers who were caught by the Philippine Navy two months ago.

A ‘ceremonial send-off’ will be held in Sual Port in Pangasinan on Wednesday afternoon.

The Vietnamese fishermen will sail back to Vietnam onboard their three commercial fishing vessels that they were using when they were arrested for illegal fishing off Dile Point in Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur last September 8, 2016.

Prior to their release, the Vietnamese were held by the Bureau of Immigration while their boats were guarded by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

The fishermen had caught about 4 tons of fish when they were nabbed.
