Duterte’s call on Emperor Akihito cancelled

President Rodrigo Duterte’s courtesy call on Japanese Emperor Akihito has been cancelled.

This is due to the death of the Emperor’s uncle, Prince Mikasa.

Prince Mikasa, at 100, was the oldest member of the Japanese Imperial Family.

He passed away at St. Luke’s International Hospital in Tokyo on Thursday at 8:34 am.

He had been confined since May 16 due to acute pneumonia.
