The ‘window hours’ for Metro Manila Development Authority’s daily number coding scheme will be suspended for three months beginning October 31.

MMDA Chairman Tomas Orbos says, this is meant to ease the traffic congestion during the Christmas season.

The suspension of the window hours shall take effect only along EDSA and C-5 from October 31, 2016 to January 31, 2017.

A two-day dry run will be held starting October 17.

The number coding scheme prohibits motorists from using roads in Metro Manila from 7 am to 7 pm depending on their vehicles’ plate numbers.

However, private vehicles may use the roads during ‘window hours’ of 10 am to 3 pm.

The window hours do not apply in Makati, Marikina, Las Piñas and Muntinlupa.
