Ubial takes trip to Cuba to look into its health services

Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial travels to Havana, Cuba to study its health care system.

This comes, after President Rodrigo Duterte gave the order to the DOH chief to copy Cuba’s good practices in its welfare system.

Duterte made this instruction to Ubial on his very first cabinet meeting last June 30, 2016.

“They had perfected a welfare system for all na baka makopya natin (that we can copy),” the President had said.

Duterte also said, most Filipinos have no access to basic health services.

The World Health Organization (WHO) hails Cuba’s universal health care system for its accessibility and efficiency.
