A South Korean fugitive has apparently committed suicide Thursday night inside the holding area of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City, according to an initial report from the office of BI Commissioner Jaime Morente.
Morente identified the Korean as Sang Kwan An who was born on July 27, 1966.
He said the Korean arrived in the country on board flight no. 5J311 from Taipei, Taiwan.
Morente added that based on Interlpol alarm, An was wanted by the South Korean government for investment fraud of almost 700,000 U.S. dollars.
Upon arrival at NAIA, the fugitive was immediately arrested and held at an exclusion room while authorities were coordinating with the Interpol and the South Korean Embassy.
At around 8:15 p.m., Morente said they received a call from the airport unit saying that An had committed suicide inside the exclusion room.
