Big, familiar words? Well, the phrase was first introduced by William James in his Principles of Psychology (1890).
In literature, it is a writing style in which a character’s thoughts, feelings, and reactions are depicted in a continuous flow uninterrupted by objective description or conventional dialogue. James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, and Marcel Proust are some of the literary icons who were among its notable early exponents.
Are we ready to see this style of writing and storytelling in the digital edition of Cinemalaya 2020? Yes, the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, considered as the most prestigious film festival for independently produced motion pictures, is set to sail with its digital edition slated on Aug. 7 to 16.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 16th year of the country’s biggest independent film festival will be screened on Vimeo. Co-produced by the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the Cinemalaya Foundation Inc., this year’s film festival main attraction are the Short Films in Competition.
Out of 244 entries submitted, 10 short films were selected and will vie for the Best Film award.

Apart from the main competition, a specially-curated Short Films in Exhibition is also showing.
Adding more film flavor and variety are films from the Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video, which also continue its run this year and Visions of Asia, one of the major components of the film festival, will screen award-winning indie films from Asia.
Cinemalaya gives honor and tribute to director Peque Gallaga and actress Anita Linda. Screenwriter living legend Ricky Lee, will conduct a scriptwriting masterclass. There will also be a virtual reunion of his writing workshop alumni.
