Rosauro redeems unkept promise to late father

Filipino MMA fighter Roel Rosauro finally redeemed an unkept promise to his late father when he beat Indonesian Yohan Mulia Legowo by unanimous decision at ONE: A New Tomorrow at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Rosauro overcame a troubled childhood with the help of his father who turned him to Muay Thai. He learned discipline and embarked on a career in martial arts even as he promised his father that he will be successful in combat sports.

He was finally able to fulfill that promise two years after his father died when he snapped a two-fight losing streak to post his first ONE Championship victory last Friday in Thailand.

The fight was close throughout and Rosauro needed a strong third round to finally pull out the victory.

The Indonesian took Rosauro down in the final round. The Filipino got back up and peppered his opponent’s body with leg kicks. A final head kick connected helping Rosauro to the strong finish.

Rosauro improved to 5 wins and 3 losses in his MMA career.

The Filipino confessed that he was notorious for giving his parents headaches just a few short years ago. Now he just wants to make a name for himself through martial arts.

After losing his first two bouts at ONE Championship Rosauro now understands what it takes to win. He knows that he has to stay hungry and disciplined if he hopes to succeed in the promotion.

Rosauro trains out of Yaw-Yan Ardigma Cebu. He added to his skills by studying jiu-jitsu and implementing a weight-lifting program for strength and conditioning.
