A record-breaking 323 entries battled it out in the first installment in 2019 of one of the largest and most prestigious cockfighting championships globally, the World Pitmasters Cup 9-Cock International Derby at the award-winning Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.
The seven-day action-packed championships culminated on Jan. 26, with the entries of AAR Bgawis GF, Rizal Laguna SL of Capt. Alvin Royo, JCAP of John Capinpin, Birthday Gift 1 of Cong. Kulit Alcala and #164 Agbiag Party-List/Sagupaan of Cong. Patrick Antonio, who each tallied an aggregate score of 8 points apiece, capturing the crown.
A total champion’s prize of P18 million was split among the four champions, from the total prize money of P25.8M.
Earning 1st runners-up honors with a score of 7.5 were the entries of Lolong Fiscalizer Big Event Soon BWC entry of Atty. Moises Villanueva and Biwee Chua, Goldline Eman of Atty. Emman Pichay and Jess Floro, and April 14 6-Cock sa Calasiao BL of Jepoy.
Second runners-up garnering a score of 7 were the entries of Art Atayde, Tonton Pua, Henry Paz, Jojo Gatlabayan, Roger Felix, Atty. Rey Directo, Mr. Norman Bengco, Engr. Nong, Nad Mendoza, Eric Dela Rosa, Chris Javillo Jr., Mr. Raymond Dela Cruz, Atty. Cascolan, Gov. Claude Bautista, Fidel Villanueva, Lenman Galen, Engr. Sonny Panaligan, Mike Sta. Ana, Atty. Edgar Santos, Raffy Zaide, Alex Ty,Jojo Cruz, and Perry Cruz.
The WPC is organized by gaming consultant Charlie “Atong” Ang, businessman Gerry Ramos, Governor Eddiebong Plaza, Engr. Sonny Lagon, and businessman RJ Mea, with assistance from Eric Dela Rosa, and co-presented by RWM. The prestigious gaming event was sponsored by Thunderbird, Excellence, Thor, VNJ, and Experto.
